WE EXPLORE SPACE WITH STEM!

 Our students downloaded different applications to their phones and made sky observations in different parts of the school garden. They took screenshots of the different constellations they found and shared them with each other.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Today we were practising team-building activities and we wondered if there is any radiation in Space. We took some measurements of background radiation and potassium radiation using Smart Geiger Pro. It was really fun!

  We have a whole week of space exploration with STEM. We chose an experiment with the NASA kids club that is in line with the teaching topic we are working on and the physics curriculum. We did a water tornado and explained the atmospheric pressure and the formation of a real tornado through it. We’ve studied NASA’s site and this week we’re finalizing a rocket launcher!   March is the month of the project "We explore space with STEM" in the elementary school of Šimuna Kožičića Benje!! As part of the extracurricular activities, the 8th grade students worked on their rocket launch pad design using plasticine and a pipette. We also played around a bit and tried to launch a rocket using Newton's 3rd law with balloons. About 240 students studied NASA's student pages for 2 weeks. It was very instructive and fun!
